Your pension is what lets you keep living well once you no longer work for a living. Provided, that is, you arrange it properly now.

Hypotheek Info Punt makes your personal pension situation clear and understandable, including a full calculation. We are happy to think along with you about your future planning.

Your Dutch pension has three parts

Almost everyone in the Netherlands builds up a pension in three ways, and together those three determine what you will have to spend later. They are not equally large and they do not work the same way.

  • The AOW state pension. Everyone who has lived in the Netherlands receives it; the amount depends on how many years you have lived here. In 2026 the AOW starts at age 67; from 2028 that shifts to 67 years and 3 months. On mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl you can see your personal date.
  • Pension through your employer. For most people this is the largest part. But not everyone builds it up, and if you have changed jobs often, or moved to the Netherlands partway through your career, there may be gaps.
  • What you arrange yourself. An annuity (lijfrente), tax-friendly bank savings, ordinary savings, or the surplus value of your home. This part only exists if you choose to build it.

Why look now and not later

You repair a pension gap with time, not with money. If you find out at 62 that you are short, the options are few and expensive. Find out at 45, and there is usually a calm solution. That is the whole reason to look at this early.

There are a few moments when it is really worth holding your pension up to the light: you change jobs, you start working for yourself, you move in together, marry or divorce, or you want to stop working before your AOW date. In all those cases something changes in your pension that you rarely get a letter about.

The Dutch pension system is changing

Under the Future Pensions Act (Wet toekomst pensioenen), all Dutch pension funds are moving to a new system. By 1 January 2028 at the latest they will all have switched; a large share already has. You will build up your pension in a personal pot instead of in a collective pot with a promised amount. For most people that is no disaster, and sometimes it is even favourable, but your payout will move a bit more with the economy. If you want to know what it means for you, we will look at your own overview together.

What we do for you

  • We line up all your pension pots, including those from old employers.
  • We calculate what you will have net, and what you will need.
  • If there is a gap between those two, we look at what it costs to close it.
  • And we look at what happens if life turns out differently: incapacity for work, stopping early, or dying before your pension date.
